Diamond Engine Shield EX One Step Closer to Winning Coolest Thing Made in NC
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Washington, NC — The Diamond Engine Shield EX has been selected as a semifinalist for the “Coolest Thing Made in NC” competition. Sesame Technologies, Inc. is one of 15 small businesses from a pool of more than 100 competitors to move on to the next round of public voting. In the first round, 12,600 votes were cast across the field of candidates over a seven-day voting period.
The Diamond Engine Shield EX is a revolutionary aircraft engine protection device designed to be safely installed by a single crew member from the ground, reducing the need for ladders and increasing personnel safety. It is designed to protect private jet engines from foreign object damage and harsh weather conditions on the ground during storage and maintenance. The shield’s resilience to harsh conditions has been tested through wind, water, and impact destructive testing, which has revealed its capability to weather the storm.
The shield is constructed from premium materials, including carbon fiber, high-temperature silicones, and stainless steel. It features a collapsible design, allowing quick storage during flight, and is installed with a unique pole that locks to prevent accidental droppage.
This is the fifth year that the NC Chamber has held the popular, public-driven contest, which spotlights North Carolina’s cutting-edge manufacturing industry—an industry that generates more than 17% of the gross state product and employs more than 10% of the state's workforce.
“This year’s products highlight the diversity of North Carolina’s incredible manufacturing industry—including generators, food and beverage products, chillers, jets, and much more,” said NC Chamber President and CEO Gary Salamido. “We are grateful to North Carolina’s manufacturing community – the backbone of our state’s economy for more than a century. And we are so excited to congratulate Sesame Technologies, Inc. for becoming a semifinalist! As we always say at the NC Chamber: what’s made in North Carolina makes North Carolina.”
Baxter International is serving as the Presenting Sponsor of the online competition, and Business North Carolina is this year’s Media Partner. As the exclusive North Carolina affiliate for the National Association of Manufacturers (NAM), the NC Chamber knows that a strong manufacturing industry is crucial to the state's economic and competitive success. The North Carolina Manufacturing Extension Partnership (NCMEP) is collaborating on the annual contest as a Supporting Organization.
