Sesame Partners with DuPont on Next-Generation Aircraft Protection Equipment Using Kevlar® EXO™

Washington, NC — Sesame Technologies, Inc. and DuPont (NYSE: DD) are pleased to announce their collaboration on next-generation aircraft protection equipment using Kevlar® EXO™.

Kevlar® EXO™ is the most significant aramid fiber innovation in over 50 years, having been first introduced to the life protection market in April 2023. Developed by leading materials experts, it is a next-generation para-aramid fiber with inherent flame and temperature resistant qualities.

For more than 30 years, DuPont has been a highly valued partner and supplier for Sesame Technologies, Inc. DuPont’s materials, including Kevlar® and Nomex®, are amongst the primary raw materials used by Sesame. These materials are selected by Sesame because they are lightweight, high-tensile strength fibers that deliver unparalleled heat and abrasion resistance.

With these materials, Sesame products meet the demands of numerous industries, including commercial aviation, military aviation, business aviation, transportation, and aerospace. Compared to Kevlar® and Nomex®, other materials such as nylon, polyester, and polyethylene have much lower heat resistance. Kevlar® and Nomex® offer unique thermal protection properties and abrasion resistance, making them ideal for aircraft protection applications where melted covers can potentially cause blockages, leading to costly repairs and accidents.

After conducting a year of stringent testing, including extensive abrasion and heat resistance evaluations, Sesame’s team has found that Kevlar® EXO™ provides superior protection.

Sesame Technologies, Inc. is developing next-generation aircraft protection components utilizing Kevlar® EXO™, which will be introduced to the market as early as Spring 2025.
